WHY THIS WORK MATTERS TO ME
This work began with my mother. In May, I felt a quiet but persistent nudge to photograph her — not for a special occasion, not because anything seemed urgent, but because something inside me said now. I listened. I made the time. I took her portrait, capturing a precious moment in what I now recognize as a significant legacy portrait experience.
By November, she was gone.
That photograph has since become one of the most meaningful things I own. It holds her presence, her warmth, and a version of her I can return to whenever I need to feel close again. I didn’t know then how little time we had left — only that it mattered to capture her while I could, preserving memories that would otherwise fade.
That experience changed the way I see photography. I realized how often families wait, assuming there will be more time, or putting professional portrait sessions off because of cost, logistics, or uncertainty. When an elder passes, that waiting can turn into regret — not because love was missing, but because opportunity quietly slipped by.

Legacies in Focus offers discounted professional portrait sessions for senior congregants when churches organize a group photography day or special event, such as:
- Senior Celebration Day
- Grandparents Day
- Elder Appreciation Events
Requirements include a minimum of 10 participating congregants, with sessions scheduled consecutively on the same day and hosted at the church or an agreed-upon location.
Each session includes a professional portrait session, a private online image gallery, and one high-resolution digital image.
The discounted church pricing aims to make professional photography more accessible while ensuring the quality, care, and time each portrait deserves.

- Professional Makeup Session $100 per person. Makeup application by a professional makeup artist for a natural, camera-ready look designed for portrait photography. This service is especially recommended for elders who would like a polished yet timeless appearance,
perfect for preserving memories.
- Attire & Wardrobe Options $75 per session Access to curated attire options (including gowns for women) with one wardrobe change during the session. Additionally, you will receive guidance on styling for comfort and elegance.

Behind Legacy in Focus
My name is June, and I am the owner of Uniquely June LLC, as well as the Creative Director and Photographer behind our initiative, Legacies in Focus.
One spring morning, I felt an unmistakable nudge to photograph my mother. There was no urgency—no diagnosis, no timeline—just a quiet inner voice saying now. I listened and captured her portrait.

Today, I collaborate with families, churches, and elder care communities to provide professional portrait sessions that honor elders with dignity and intention. I believe this work is essential because elders matter—their stories, their faces, their lives.
Each legacy portrait experience is approached with patience, respect, and care, understanding that comfort, trust, and presence are just as crucial as the photograph itself.

I’m reaching out to share Legacies in Focus, a portrait photography project created to honor elders and preserve memories by capturing the presence, stories, and dignity of those who have shaped our families and faith communities.

Our initiative offers professional portrait sessions for senior congregants, hosted in familiar and comfortable settings such as churches. These sessions are designed to be calm, respectful, and accessible, honoring elders exactly as they are. Each session includes:
